This morning I woke up and I knew FOR SURE that I was sick. I had a stuffy head, watery eyes, and burning at the top of my nose. I called off all of my appointments today because I HAVE to get better before Sunday, when I have to go facepaint at a kids' birthday party.
You know, I have to debunk the myth that vegans NEVER get sick, because we occasionally do. Things like stress, contact with other people who are sick, and other factors that might lower the immune system.
MY theory is that since starting my new diet a little over a week ago, my body is in shock from all the good stuff I'm putting in it, so therefore everything came to the surface.
"Things have to get worse before they get better!"
Have you ever heard that phrase before?
I actually started to notice it yesterday, so based on past experience, whole garlic has worked for me in the past. So I ate some! It was spicy.
I also had a kombucha in the fridge, the ginger lemon kind. Perfect!
"Lemon, garlic and manuca honey are going to fight off this sickness early," I decided.
A friend showed me this funny video which actually makes a lot of sense. I watched it. Then I held the lemon juice in my mouth for 20 minutes. The ritual was quite torturous, but for that very reason... I know it will work!
It was rough, guys.
But I did it.
Then to confirm my power over the sickness, I boiled some garlic cloves in hot water, added manuca honey, and squeezed lemon in there.
Dropped in a lemon tea bag and I'm sippin' as we speak 🍋
The cool thing about manuca honey is that it's from New Zealand, and the bees actually create the honey from the flower of the tea tree plant! It has super healing powers they say.
I'll continue my rituals and l'll let you know how I feel tomorrow!
