This morning I tried something new for breakfast. Organic oatmeal from Trader Joe's that I bought yesterday, topped with some fruit and grains. The reason I chose oatmeal to buy at the store is because it's inexpensive, it's full of fiber and it's easy to make.
At Whole Foods I used to get a smoothie called Peanut Butter Blues, and it had peanut butter, bananas, almond milk and blueberries in it. I couldn't believe how good it was, and how well the blueberries and peanut butter tasted and mixed together.
I also chose to try peanut butter because it's high in protein. You could use any nut butter including almond butter or cashew butter.
The ancient grains are the icing on the cake, because of the added fiber and nutrients. Yes, oatmeal and grains are considered "carby," but the fiber helps to cancel it out. Plus the ancient grains are gluten free. Cool!
